Heute gibt es eine kleine Premiere auf feierabendfrickeleien: Der erste zweisprachige Beitrag! Ich habe nämlich als Modellstrickerin für die Fibre Co. an einem Projekt mitgewirkt und möchte daher, dass auch die liebe Crew in England versteht, was hier so schreibe.

Today’s article is a premiere on feierabendfrickeleien: It it the first bilingual blogpost I write. As I worked as a sample knitter for a project by The Fibre Co., I wanted to make sure their great crew in the UK understands what I’m writing about it.

Zufällig habe ich auf Instagram einen Aufruf für Probe- und Teststricker gesehen. Da ich die Garne der Fibre Co. Ohnehin sehr spannend finde, habe ich mich kurzerhand gemeldet und wurde zu meiner großen Freude auch aufgenommen. Die Aufgabe war in zweifacher Hinsicht spannend: Ich durfte zum einen ein Garn verstricken, das es noch gar nicht zu kaufen gab und zum anderen sollte ich daraus ein Modell für eine Anleitungssammlung der Fibre Co. stricken. Das Modell wurde mir dann mit ein paar Fotos vorgeschlagen: Ein wunderschöner Pullover mit vielen vielen Zöpfen von Linda Marveng. Da ich Zöpfe liebe, war sofort klar, das mache ich.

It was by chance that I saw The Fibre Co.‘s call for test and sample knitters on instagram. As I was already very interested in their yarns, I coulnd’t resist apllying. To my great joy, they chose me as one member of their sample knitter team. The task ahead was exciting in two ways: I was to knit with a yarn that wasn’t even on the market yet and I got to knit a sample fort he latest pattern collection published by The Fibre Co. They soon send me a picture of the pattern they wanted me to knit: A gorgeous Sweater with lots and lots of cables, designed by Linda Marveng. As I am a passionate lover of all things cable there was no doubt I was doing this!

Die Anleitung: Gestrickt habe ich den Pullover „Beckside“ von Linda Marveng,der Teil der Sammlung „Fell Garth II“ ist, die Anfang August erschienen ist. Da sind so viele tolle Projekte drin, es lohnt sich wirklich, da mal reinzuschauen. Das Modellstricken war etwas ungewohnt, da mit die Größe, die ich stricken sollte, vorgegeben wurde und nicht meiner eigenen Größe entsprach. Dadurch konnte ich keinen Passformcheck machen. Das wiederum hat bedeutet, dass ich den Strickstreber raushängen lassen musste, um ganz ordentlich eine Maschenprobe zu machen, damit das Muster zum Schluss auch die richtigen Maße hat. Beckside ist außerdem ein Pullover, der in Einzelteilen gestrickt und zusammengenäht wird – das ist ja nicht so mein liebster Zeitvertreib, aber es war am Ende doch nicht so schlimm, wie befürchtet.

The pattern: I was assigned „Beckside“ a sweater pattern by Linda Marveng, that is part oft he „Fell Garth II“ pattern collection that was published at the beginning of august. You should really look at this collection people, it has so many gorgeous patterns! Sample knitting was an interesting experience for me, as I was assigned a size to knit that didn’t correspond with my own size. Therefore, I couldn’t check the fit oft he sewater I was knitting. This, in turn, meant that I had to be a good little knitter and knit a swatch and gauge before starting the seriousknitting. Otherwise, the measurements oft he finished piece would have been far off. In addition, Beckside is knitted in pieces and seamed – not one of my favourite pastimes. But in the end, it wasn’t as bad as feared.

Das Garn: Gestrickt habe ich Beckside mit einem neuen Garn der Fibre Co. namens Arranmore Light. Das ist quasi die kleine Schwester von ihrem Arranmore Garn. Und was soll ich sagen: Das Garn ist ein Traum! Es ist ein tweediges Garn und hat dadurch einen sehr rustikalen Look. Davon sollte man sich aber nicht täuschen lassen, denn neben 80 Prozent Merino enthält das Garn jeweils 10 Prozent Seide und Kaschmir. Das macht es unglaublich weich. Mit 300m auf 100g ist es bei der Fibre Co. als DK eingeordnet – ich finde aber, es könnte durchaus auch als dickes Sport durchgehen. Durch den rustikalen Look eignet sich das Garn wirklich super gut für Zopfmuster: Das Strickbild ist einfach super! Ich kann mir daraus auch super eine gemütliche Strickjacke mit Zopfmuster für den Herbst vorstellen. Einen kleinen Vorrat habe ich mir selber auch schon von dem Garn geordert.

The yarn: My Beckside sample was knit in Arranmore Light, the newest yarn creation of the Fibre Co. crew. This yarn ist he little sister of Arranmore that was already a staple of the Fibre Co.‘s yarn range. What can I say about the yarn? It is a dream! It has a kind of tweedy, rustic look. But you shouldn’t be fooled by that, because besides 80% od merino wool Arranmore contains 10% silk and 10% cashmere fibres. Therefore: It is oh so soft! The Fibre Co. classifies the yarn as DK, it runs 300m/100g and I think you could also classify it as thicker sportweight. Because of ist slightly rustic look, the yarn is just perect for cables. Doesn’t it have an amazing stitch definition? I am already dreaming about a comfy cardi for autumn (of course I already ordered a little stash of that yarn for myself).

Die Zusammenarbeit mit der Fibre Company war wirklich spannend und es war witzig, mal ein Modell für einen Garnhersteller zu stricken. Die crew in England hat mir verraten, dass mein Modell gerade auf trunk shows in Amerika herumreist. Schon irgendwie cool!

Working with the Fibre Co. has been a real great experiemce and it was fun knitting a sample for a yarn producer. The crew in the UK told me that my sample is currently on tour through the US with different trunk shows. Kinda cool!
